Goal setting wasn’t something I was into until my husband and I started paying off our debt. Seeing tangible results in our debt payoff journey motivated me and inspired me to try setting goals in other areas.
Through this process I became aware that the daily labor of life, whether it be career related or not, was moving in some direction. In that movement was an opportunity for me to declare the direction.
An opportunity to focus my compass and therefore focus my life.
I think goal setting can be gentle and honestly, fun. For me, it’s not about setting unattainable goal-posts just for me to shame myself when I don’t meet them. It’s really just a plan for what I’m working towards in my work hours, home hours, and relational hours. It honestly covers everything.
Over time I’ve refined my approach to something that’s realistic and sustainable. While I LOVE the big goal setting energy of January, I use a different approach now.
